Strawberry Mint julep

The mint julep origins are sketchy at best but origins dated around 1803 in London. Traditionally mint juleps were served in silver or pewter mugs and held only by the bottom and top edges of the cup.

Strawberry mint julep recipe:
4 strawberry, washed and hulled
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon water
¼ cup Kentucky bourbon
Ice
1 sprig mint

Place the strawberries, sugar, water and bourbon in a blender with three ice cubes together.  Blend until sugar is dissolved. Fill a julep with ice, and pour the contents of the blender into the julep glass. Garnish with a sprig of mint.

Full and packed with mint and bourbon, mint julep is a mighty drink. The crushed ice helps to mellow the concoction as it melts.

Strawberry function is to add more sweet and fruity flavor to the julep.
