Coriandrum sativum
The history of this herb contains many more interesting facts, and they have accumulated over a great period of time, for coriander has been cultivated for more than 3,000 years.

Seeds of coriander have been found among the funeral offerings in ancient Egyptian tombs.

From Egypt, in all probability the herbs came into use by the ancient Hebrews, who made it one of the bitter herbs involved in the ritual of Passover.

This herbs has had some potent properties assigned to it over the years. It does have a bold flavor and fragrance, but as a medicine it’s pretty slight stuff.

People drink infusions of coriander seeds or chew on the seeds themselves to soothe upset stomachs or aid digestion.

The fruit contain a volatile oil responsible for the actions coriander produces but unfortunately those actions aren’t very effective.
