Chickweed tea

Chickweed is a vigorous creeping annual with tiny oval leaves and small star-shaped white flowers. Chickweed tea aids indigestion and soothes the digestive tract. To make tea, add two tablespoons of dried chickweed to two cups of boiling water and allow the mixture to steep for about ten minutes before straining it.

A tea made with the fresh plant is good for constipation, while tea made from the dried herb will help cough and sore throats.

Hoarseness of the throat can be eased by closely sipping warm chickweed tea. For best results, add lots of honey and a small splash of vinegar.

Those with tender bowels will find relief when chickweed tea is taken each day.
